Lodging

What an awesome setting for a full log lodge that covers over 12,000 square feet. It immediately welcomes you. As you walk through the French doors into the lodge you quickly notice the heavy logs reaching to the ceiling some 25 feet up. To the left is a double sided fire place that is sure to warm even the coldest hunter and provides a soothing and relaxing atmosphere. This great room has several additional lounge areas with big flat screen TVs.

To the left of the great room is a dining room that will stir with hunting stories and tasty meals prepared by a certified chef. The fire place adds additional atmosphere to the prepared meals. Not necessarily the reason you came to HDR but guaranteed to make your hunt a lifetime experience. New friends are met and relationships built here as each hunter has an opportunity to relax.

On the other side of the great room is a bar that invites clients to fellowship and good camaraderie perhaps even some loud cheers for your favorite team playing on the flat screen. Many will enjoy challenges at the custom pool table, and each hunt a new champ will be crowned.

Very near the bar and great room is a business/internet room with computers and/or hook up for your own laptop. The lodge has WIFI that allows clients to stay in contact with the outside world from their room or the business center ...but only if they choose to.
Down a long hallway are the bedrooms. Two large queen size log beds are in each of ten rooms. Each room has a private bathroom and full shower. Each hunter has hanging and drawer space for personnel items. There are two handicap accessible rooms with one king size bed and easy access to everything including a shower. Following a good day of hunting, a great meal, and perhaps a fire side chat at the fireplace or outside bon fire pit, the bedroom will be a welcome respite and provide the rest necessary to start over again early in the morning.

Additional amenities:

As you can note in the section above, the lodge has many amenities that the hunters will enjoy as they take time to relax during their hunt. At High Desert Ranch, several additional amenities exist to enhance the client´s experience.

Rifle Range:

The rifle range is designed to allow hunters to check their rifle after the trip to the ranch.  After verifying the rifle settings, the client has the opportunity to practice at extended ranges.  While most shooters have never ventured beyond the 200 yard target, many will find that shooting at the more distant targets (out to 1000 yards) good practice and a confidence builder.  Understanding the ballistics of your caliber is critical when shooting beyond your traditional yardage.

Sporting Clays Course:

Shooting sports and competition dates way back in our history.  Improving our shot gunning skills has long been the goal of many upland hunters.  Many probably started clay target shooting with a hand thrower and then advanced to trap and skeet.  Trap and Skeet courses are relatively simple to set up and provide opportunities for improvement and competition.

To improve the competition, shot gunning enthusiasts looked to change the repeatable target presentations found in skeet and trap.  Many have added sporting clays because of the increase in unpredictability.  A well designed course offers a great variety of trajectories, angles, speeds, elevations, distances, and target sizes.  The professionally designed course at HDR offers five shooting stands with two throwing machines per stand.  Additionally, each stand allows three alternative positions to shoot from.
